INTERVIEW WITH MAIN ST REVIVAL

Main St Revival is a nod to the romance of small-town life. The Ottawa roots-rock band released their first full-length album in November 2019.

Throwing back to the classic sounds of Tom Petty and the only good boss, Bruce Springsteen, the rural-rock album was recorded with producer/multi-instrumentalist Anders Drerup and finished at Audio Valley Studios with Steve Foley.

Of the visual art accompanying album and five singles released in 2019, the band says, “We worked with Montreal artist Ana Pranjic. She helped us come up with a consistent theme for the singles art, . The album art itself is a painting we commissioned from her that is beautiful - we are incredibly excited to share it with the world.”

When asked about the drive to make music, Doug Wallace (guitar, vocals) says, “you have to have a genuine love for the art. It’s a need we have - to create and perform art for ourselves and for others. We have no choice- it’s in us.”

Wallace says of music and activism, “we support funding for the arts. We support free choice and believe everyone should be treated equal.  Not to speak for everyone in the band, but we aren’t afraid to speak our beliefs on all issues and hope our art can help fight bigotry, hate, and hypocrisy.”

Listeners can hear in the new album a message of hope and believing in yourself while undoubtedly experiencing the urge to move, to keep on climbing, and as Wallace says, “never stop dreaming.”
